Thanksgiving Outfits

Now that Halloween is behind us, the calendar reads November. And that means my focus turns to everything Thanksgiving! I am NOT one of those people who rushes Christmas. I like to savor and enjoy each individual season and holiday. So I am thinking everything turkey, plaid and pumpkin right now! My first order of business is to pick out an outfit for Turkey Day!

There are two schools of thought for Thanksgiving garb – “dressy” and “stretchy.” No matter which group you choose to fall into, you can still dress cute! If you get real clever, you can even mix the two. My favorite Thanksgiving look is a cute long blouse over some stretchy comfy leggings!

I’ve rounded up a few of my current favs for dressy looks, stretchy looks and everything in between.

Ribbed Mocked Neck Dress / Plaid Midi / Sweater Dress / Shirt Dress

You can never go wrong with a cute fall dress for Thanksgiving if you prefer to be on the dressier side. The ribbed mocked neck dress is loose around the waist or as I like to say is built for good beer drinking. It gives you some room for all that turkey without being too clingy. The plaid midi is a great piece for the closet because it can be worn all fall and winter to different events and even to work!

Slouchy Turtleneck / Cowl Neck Fleece / Cowl Neck / Funnel Neck

There are never enough sweaters in my wardrobe. I am loving all the different necklines out this fall. Cowl neck and funnel neck are so in right now. All of these are so comfy. I mean the cowl neck fleece? C’mon, what more could you ask for! And that color is an untraditional fall color but is so rich. The slouchy turtleneck can be paired with jeans or leggings for a casual look or a cute skirt, like this or this, for a dressier look.

Boyfriend Blazer / Jean Jacket / Hole Knit Cardigan / Super Long Sweater

I love a boyfriend blazer to dress up a casual look. Wear this with a cute graphic tee or a plain white v-neck, some jeans and sneaks or boots and you are good to go. If you want a more relaxed look pair the jean jacket with a sweater or plaid shirt and some leggings. Or my go to – a cardigan with a tank, jeans and converse.

Flannel Tunic / Henley Tunic / Twist Pullover / Plaid Flannel
It’s fall. What screams fall more than a plaid top?? Wear one of these plaid tops with leggings or jeans and you can eat all the turkey your heart desires. The twist pullover is another great look that can be dressed up with a long necklace and some boots or dressed down with jeans or leggings.

Olive Skinny Jeans / Paperbag Pants / High Rise Skinny Jeans / Leggings
If you are smart you will wear leggings on Thanksgiving. But if you are trying to be fancy then the paperbag pants will leave you with that beer belly turkey stuffing room you’re looking for.

Wedge Boot / Harper Mules / Dr. Martens / Riding Boots
I love a good wedge boot, especially these ones. Wear them with leggings and a sweater or a dress or jeans. They are versatile. The mules can also be versatile, pair them with jeans or a dress and you can’t go wrong. If you are going for a more casual look, you can’t go wrong with Dr. Martens or converse sneaks.

Hoop Drop Earrings / Belt / Tortoiseshell Oval Earrings / Necklace

I love flashy jewelry, especially if you are going with a more simple look. Jazz up a simple sweater and jeans with the hoop drop earrings or a double layered necklace. Or add a cognac belt to warm up a simple outfit. If you feel to plain, layer up with some accessories!

I am kind of feeling this outfit I wore to work on a recent casual Friday. It would make for a good, casual Thanksgiving outfit. You can’t go wrong with an oversized cardigan, a gingham top, jeans, and flats. PS. excuse the messy bun, this was pre-hair and makeup! 😛
