Finley Update: 2 Months

HOW is my sweet little newborn already 2 months old?! I feel like she was literally just born and yet she is going for her first round of vaccinations tomorrow. I can NOT completely wrap my head around it.

We have really settled into a pretty good routine. I wish I could pat myself on the back for this but she really did it all herself. She is a pretty chill little baby. She loves tummy time, laying on her back on her mat “exercising” and relaxing in her Rock n’ Play. She has already had a 7+ hour stretch of sleep at night!! I hope that happens again soon! 😉

This adorable tunic sweatshirt is from Old Navy. This color combo is no longer available but there are two other color/patterns still available AND it is on sale + an additional 30% off at checkout right now!

Like any baby she does have her fussy moments though. But I can’t believe how quickly they grow and change everyday. She is a whopping 12 lbs and 10 oz and already in 3-6 month clothing! Her big gummy smile already lights up a room.

Now that Finley is 2 months old we have a few new must-have items that we reach for daily. As I mentioned above, she loves tummy time and “exercising” on her back on a mat. I have 2 different play mats I rotate between using. The lamb mat was a surprise gift. It is so soft and cozy I love putting Finley down on it. It is also very sweet and simple which I like. I find a lot of baby and kid items really ugly. The lamb mat and the cloud mat are both visually appealing to me compared to a lot of the other play mats on the market.

Now that we are venturing out of the house a lot more often we are grabbing for our diaper bag constantly. I got so many compliments on this backpack style one before I even left the hospital. I initially picked it out because I thought it was gender neutral enough that my husband would feel comfortable carrying it as well. It has so much room and so many compartments it has been working out great. I am considering getting a tote organizer so I can just bring some stuff in my regular bag on shorter trips. If I test this out I will update you guys on how it works out in real life.

I’ve heard every kid likes different binkies and I have found that to be true so far with Fin. She seems to only really prefer these soothies. I don’t know if it is because it is the first kind she ever had (it is what my hospital provided) or what. But I have been stocking up on them because I feel like you can never have enough. She has bassinet binkies, car seat binkies, feeding station binkies, Rock N’ Play binkies, etc. I like to keep them within grabbing distance of all her favorite haunts!

Finley loves bath time and I love wrapping her up in these adorable critter hooded towels after! These ones are nice, thick and plush. They seem like they will hold up well. They have so many different animals to pick from too. There is something for everyone.

This diaper caddy is clutch if you are as lazy as I am. This thing is awesome. I have mine filled with diapers, butt cream, and wipes. I keep it next to the changing pad in the bedroom in the evening and I bring it down to the living room during the day. That way I don’t have to walk all the way back upstairs every single time she needs a diaper change. This is a necessity in my book but especially if you live in a 2 story house.

I am obsessed with anything and everything pom pomed. So of course, when I saw this hamper I had to put it on my registry. My besties were sweet enough to gift it to me. It is completely unnecessary technically. You can easily live without a hamper, especially for a baby. But if you are like me and like to keep things organized (and collect baskets, bins and boxes like its going out of style) then you will probably be shopping for a cute hamper or basket for your little one. If you are going to have a hamper you might as well make it a cute one you like looking at. This one is so high quality. It is made of a thick (natural) canvas and the pom poms are hand sewn. It comes in 3 different sizes. You can use this as a traditional clothes hamper or to store toys or blankets, etc.

Lastly, I don’t think I could live without the Owlet. This is definitely a big ticket item and maybe not for everyone. However, it has been clutch for me and my husband. It gives me a sense of relief and peace of mind every night when I go to bed so that I can actually get some somewhat restful sleep. The baby wears the little owlet sock while sleeping and it reads its heart rate and oxygen levels. It comes with a little base station and an accompanying app. Both the app and the base station will alert you if the baby’s heart rate or oxygen level drops too low. If the sock becomes loose or falls off then the app and base station also sing a little lullaby so you can fix. Some people have complained of “false positives” due to the sock falling off. But I personally disagree with this complaint because the alert is different for a loose sock and for an actual emergency.
