This month’s book club book, The Woman in the Window, is a return to one of my favorite categories of books – psychological thriller! If you liked The Girl on the Train then you will like this book. Even the title is kind of similar when you think about it! This one is particularly good because it also involves a lot of wine drinking. This is something else I can get behind!
The book follows a recluse, who drinks a shit ton of wine, and spies on her all of her neighbors. As the book progresses, little snippets of the recluse’s past surface so that you slowly learn why she is the way she is. But then the recluse sees something she shouldn’t have seen. She tries to do the right thing but what starts to unravel will have you wondering what is real and what isn’t? I’ll be honest when I admit I didn’t see some of the twists coming. There were definitely shocking plot twists that I think will surprise even the most well read. The book is extremely well written and the characters are well developed. I couldn’t put this book down. I stayed up way too late a few nights reading it. It was well worth it though!
I also just found out that the book is being made into a movie staring Amy Adams! It is set to be released in October 2019. I highly recommend getting your hands on The Woman in the Window before the movie comes out!
