I don’t normally like to get too political or serious on the blog, especially in The List, because it is supposed to be a fun output. Although I have definitely been more vocal over on instagram stories due to it being election season! [Congrats Biden & Harris!!] But I am a lawyer by day and obviously very interested in the justice system, both the civil and criminal side. There has been an immense amount of data to show that America has a huge problem with crime and the prosecution of crimes compared to other countries of similar economics. Many have been trying to reform the criminal justice system for years. I recently read an article about Kim Foxx, the recently reelected Cook County, Illinois state’s attorney, and her efforts towards reform. She promised to prosecute less people, i.e reduce the amount of low-level non-violent crimes being prosecuted. Last year she released a huge amount of data regarding her County’s prosecutions. It is fascinating! If you have any interest in this sort of thing, I highly recommend checking out the article. But it’s not all good news for Attorney Foxx. You might recognize her name from handling the Jussie Smollett case…
I’m currently running low on a few of my favorite, clutch, everyday go-to makeup products. I keep my makeup pretty low maintenance during the week (mostly cause I was always running late and now I am mostly never leaving my house #pandemicproblems). But I can’t live without mascara. And lately, I have been in love with Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara. The brush is killer for combing through the lashes and color is jet black. Exactly what I want in a mascara. This goes on quick and stays put all day.
The holidays are coming up which has me dreaming of all the delicious treats I’m going to be baking up. I know everyone is obsessed with the big countertop Kitchenaid stand mixers but I want to let you guys in on a little secret. While those are great, their hand mixer’s work just as good for your basic baking AND take up way less space. I had a random hand mixer from Macy’s before. It worked alright. Then someone gifted me this Kitchenaid and I haven’t stopped recommending it since! Anyone who bakes, especially if you have a small kitchen space, this is an absolute must have. It makes a great gift for a new homeowner or newlyweds.
If you find yourself on the North Shore and in need of some killer bread of pastries, check out A&J King Bakery in Salem! It’s been around for a years but I feel like it’s a secret gem still. I always mention it to people and get blank stares. I am always shocked! Everything is so good. They make an unbelievable cinnabun latte but unfortunately I don’t think they are doing coffee right now during the pandemic. But their breads and pastries are out of this world. I’m not sure what I would recommend more, the epi bread, or the English muffin bread or the sticky buns or the list could go on.
Have I proclaimed my love for Younger yet? This show is one of my absolute favorites. It stars Hilary Duff and Sutton Foster, among some other stellar stars. The premise is actually kind of unique, not your typical everyday family sitcom. It is about a 40 year old woman pretending to be a Millenial to get a job in publishing. The fashion is drooool worthy. There are 6 seasons so there are lots of episodes to binge. Unfortunately, the stupid pandemic got in the way of filming Season 7 so we will have to patiently wait for that to air. I need to know who is team Josh and who is team Charles!
